A while back there was an article featured on Yahoo! front page. It was about something you should eat more if you have diabetes. Can anyone tell me what that food was?
Thanks!!!

Having diabetes does not mean you’ll have to follow a rigid and restrictive diet your whole life. Instead, a rational and balanced menu can improve your condition considerably, both in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. In fact, there are many tasty – and healthy – recipes that not only you, but also the whole family can enjoy.
(The main difference in the diet management would be like this:
- Those with type 1 diabetes would partly base the insulin intake dosage on what they eat.
-Those with type 2 diabetes could often use their dietary choices as an effective method of controlling their level of blood glucose.)
Sometimes, the variety of advice can make it confusing knowing what to eat. There’s always been many opinions, however, here are the basic principles that have stood the test of time:
* Eat more fruits of various colors. For vegetables, better give preference to non-starchy ones (spinach, carrots, broccoli or green beans).
* Whole grain foods are better than processed grain products for you.
* Include fish in your meals regularly.
* Eat lean meats. When eating poultry, remove the skin from it.
* Choose non-/low-fat dairy (milk, yogurt and cheese)
* Choose water and calorie-free “diet” drinks that are not sugar-sweetened.
* Better use liquid oils for cooking (rather than solid fats).
* Avoid high-calorie snacks and desserts including cookies, cakes, chips and ice cream.
* Eat reasonable portions (ideally, have 4-5 small meals a day).
* Read food labels to know the nutrition information and make wiser food choices.

Good luck and keep healthy!
