Diabetes cause has nothing to do with sugar. Type 2 diabetes is caused by being overweight and is best controlled by eating less fat, rather than eating less sugar.
Fruit in a healthy balanced diet won’t cause diabetes. BUT … your body really doesn’t differentiate sugar source. Whole fruit encapsulates the sugar in fibers making it slower to absorb, but if you drink fruit juice, the body doesn’t treat the sugars too much differently (with the same fructose, glucose, sucrose breakdown) than the sugars in soda.
Diabetes is caused by long term easily assimilated carbage (highly refined simple carbs – white bread, pasta, white rice, baked potatoes, cereal, crackers, cookies, cakes, pie, flour, sugars, etc.) putting a strain on the pancreas and the insulin receptors on your lean tissue. If you’ve had an onslaught of carbage, including fruit will continue the rise in blood sugar and insulin responses. So it may not create the problem but it sure won’t help.
Most people before developing diabetes will have varying problems with blood sugar: hypoglycemia, insulin sensitivity, insulin resistance – all can be easily managed by controlling carbs. Blood sugar & diabetes can be managed with diet and controlling carbs to <9grams per hour. (which is how it was managed pre meds)
Type II diabetes IS certainly affected by sugar. You need to reduce sugar and carb intake.
